Chocolate Tub Gift Box

Wanted something different to a standard box to fit Hotel Chocolat® tub of chocolate buttons. Found a delightful gift box by Linda Parker (Bird House Gift Box) which I cased for the 6 individual boxes I needed but instead of folding the top of the box out I folded in to give more of a roof shape. Note any DSP or cardstock can be used to create this box, I have used retired DSP I had in my stash.

The tub of Chocolat buttons fit perfectly the other difference to this version is the top of the box tab has been removed to make it easier to remove the tub, when closed this is not noticed.

Materials

  • DSP measures 7 x 9.5 inches
    • score on long side at 1.5, 3, 4.5, 6, 7.5 and 9 inches
    • score on short side at 1.5, 4.5, 5 and 5.5 inches
    • on long side mark at 0.75, 2.25, 3.75, 5.25, 6.75 and 8.25 inches
  • Matching DSP for label
  • Ribbon to close box
  • Well Written dies used for name tags, die cut in foil, fussy cut in black cardstock

Once you have made the marks you will need to score diagonal lines in order to be able to close the lid of the box, remove the two side tabs, cut up the bottom score lines and punch ribbon holes, you should have a piece of DSP that looks like

Use an envelope punch board or if you do not have one fold and cut as shown

As shown below add.a thin line of glue or thin tear and tape, this will form the curved edge.

Adhere the side tab and bottom tabs, add your contents, then decide if you want the lip to open out (as original design) or in as my version. Thread through the ribbon add a tag if required. Name tags were die cut using words with the letters required and cut to make the name, adhered to black cardstock, fussy cut around name and adhered to matching DSP, added to ribbon before tying bow.

Thank you for looking, enjoy making your version.
