I made some beaded tree and cane Christmas decorations, of course needed boxes to display them and this is what I came up with.

If you wanted to make boxes like this to display items you need to measure the width, depth and height of the item and then add the amount to for the top and bottom, in this instance I allowed 1/2 inch for the top and 1/2 inch bottom.
Materials used for the canes
- Garden Green/Poppy Parade/Highland Heather/Balmy Blue Cardstock – one piece 1.5 x 4.5 inches; 2 pieces 2 9/16 x 1 9/16 inches (outside top and bottom pieces) scored at 0.5 inches on all sides; 2 pieces 2.5 x 1.5 inches (inside top and bottom pieces) scored at 0.5 inches on all sides
- Silver Foil – 1.5 x 4.5 inches
- Window Sheets – 3.5 x 4.5 inches, scored at 0.5, 1, 2.5, 3 inches on the short side
- Tear and Tape
- Ribbon of your choice to hold the item up
- Edge of box decorated with retired Washi Tape
Putting the box together
- Adhere the tea and tape to the inside to the two half inch ends of the window sheet and carefully adhere the silver foil to this to form a rectangle
- Adhere tear and tape to the outside of the back of the silver foil in order to adhere the 1.5 x 4.5 piece of cardstock to form the back of the box and in so doing covers the flaps of the window sheet
- Cut all 4 pieces of cardstock to form top and bottom of the box both inside and outside as per diagram below

- Using liquid glue or tear and tape make these 4 pieces into lids
- With one of the insides adhere tear and tape to the outside of the sides, with the flat surface facing up into the box, adhere this to the inside of the box ensuring the edges of the lid and window sheet line up
- Adhere tear and tape the sides of one of the outside lids and adhere this over the window sheet to cover the piece just put into place – this will now form the bottom of the box
- Place contents inside and if attach the ribbon with the remaining inside and outside pieces make a hole centrally for the ribbon to pass through; the flat surface of the inside piece needs to face down and edges need to match the window sheet; thread ribbon through the outside piece (now the lid) and tie the bow
- Decorate edge of lid and bottom as desired
- Now box is now complete
The box for the trees and a couple of the canes were made in a similar way but needed to be wider
Thank you for looking and hope you enjoy making your version.
