Perennial Essence Accordion card

This accordion birthday card uses the beautiful Perennial Essence DSP and So Saffron cardstock

The finished card size is 6 x 6 inches, although this type of card looks complicated it is very easy and this card showcases the beautiful DSP. The pictures below show the card out full on each side and the last one is the bottom where you write your message.

  • So Saffron cardstock 5-5/8 x 5-5/8 inches (card base); 4 pieces 2 x 11-1/4 inches, score on long side at 1-7/8, 3-3/4, 5-5/8, 7-1/2, 9-3/8 inches on each piece; 2 pieces 0-7/8 x 3-1/4 inches (joining pieces); 2 circles 1-3/8 inch
  • DSP 5-3/8 x 5-3/8 inches (card base); 16 pieces 1-5/8 x 1-5/8 inches (if no sentiment required you require 20 pieces of this size)
  • Whisper White cardstock 5-3/8 x 5-3/8 inches (for message); 4 pieces 1-5/8 x 1-5/8 inches (for sentiments); 1-1/8 inch circle

If you are making the side strips as I have i.e. with a sentiment on each strip, adhere the DSP to the square sections as follows: miss the bottom square adhere to next two squares miss the next square and adhere to the following two squares (if no sentiment then miss the bottom square and adhere DSP to each square) on all 4 strips. Stamp sentiments on the 4 Whisper White square and adhere to the centre square of each strip. Burnish each strip in a concertina. On the reverse of the 5-5/8 inch  square DSP, mark lightly with a pencil at 1-7/8 and 3-3/4 inches on each side, join the marks up (you will have 9 squares pencilled in). Adhere each strip to the centre square on each side using the square with no DSP ensuring that the DSP faces outwards when the correct way. Adhere the DSP to the coloured cardstock card base. Stamp your message on the Whisper White cardstock before adhering to the bottom of the card base. Adhere the Whisper White circle to one of the coloured cardstock circles; the 2 joining pieces adhere centrally with each other in a cross; adhere the circle to the centre of the joining cross. Punch a hole through the centre of the circle and joining pieces and thread the ribbon through, adhere to the underside of the joining piece and adhere the second coloured cardstock to hide the ribbon. With the card in the closed position adhere the joining pieces to the underside of each top strip evenly. Your card is now complete.

Thank you for looking and hope you enjoy making your version.
