Diamond Gatefold Card

This card was created for a special birthday, and yes they love the colour ‘purple’. The original idea cam from Mixed Up Craft but I have put my own twist on it. This card will fit in a 5 x 7 inches envelope.

Please note that the numbers and “happy birthday” sentiment are retired SU products you can use whatever you have, instead of numbers on the front add some flowers or something that is relevant.

Materials Needed

Whisper White cardstock – 4.75 x 6 inches, all corners rounded (for panel); 3.75 x 4.25 inches, all corners rounded (for message)
Highland Heather cardstock – 2 pieces 3 inches square and 3 corners rounded
Gorgeous Grape cardstock – 2 pieces 2.5 inches square and 3 corners rounded; 4.25 x 5.5 inches (for panel layer); 3.75 x 4.45 inches (inside of card)
Botanical Butterfly DSP – 12 x 12 inches, fold in half corner to corner ensuring everything matches; place straight edge horizontal score at 3.5 and 6 inches, flip score again at 3.5 and 6 inches; rotate so straight edge is vertical and score at 6 inches

Silver Foil Sheet – 2 x 2 inch circles, numbers required, sentiment
Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets

Putting the card together

With DSP in triangle shape, fold the 6 inch score lines in, and the 3 inch score lines back
Open the DSP up, on the large triangle (top) add snail and stick this section down to the inside; and using liquid glue add this to the space between the 6 and 3 inch score lines on one side, stick together ensuring everything matches
Open the end triangles to form the diamond ensuring the points match and burnish
Add liquid glue to the inside of the diamonds and stick together matching the points
Add glue to the front of the two diamonds, adhere the Highland Heather squares, ensure the point of the square matches the bottom of the diamond
Add glue to the Gorgeous Grape square, adhere this centrally on top of the Highland Heather diamond
Using the Detailed Punch, on both Gorgeous Grape pieces punch the petals in each corner and then round each corner
Die cut the numbers and sentiment from Silver Foil ensuring the multipurpose adhesive sheet is used to stick these to the card
Adhere the numbers to each diamond shape
Adhere the sentiment to the inside card piece
Optional – I stuck a piece of silver foil under each petal shape before adhering the inside piece of Gorgeous Grape
Adhere the silver foil circle to the top of the panel larger Whisper White piece centrally, then adhere the second circle on the other side matching the circles
Adhere the Gorgeous Grape layer to the Whisper White panel
Adhere the smaller Whisper White to the Gorgeous Grape ensuring that they do not cover the petal shapes
Add embellishments
