Gift Bags

I created some flowers in a vase using the Daisy punch for a gift and wanted a gift bag that would hold  it. These are the flowers created:

Each flower contains 3 punched daisies in Whisper White and each daisy shape has the outside of each petal gently coated in a colour to match the centre of each daisy which is coloured using a dauber. The daisies are stuck together with liquid glue and the centre contains a faceted gem. The back of the daisy has a one inch circle punched in Old Olive cardstock with a 1/16th hole punch off centre in order to hold the supporting stem (not SU). The leaves are cut from Old Olive the length of A4 sheet 1/4 inch in width with each end just tapered. The gift bags were made using retired DSP but can be made using any of the current DSP available. The bags were made in colours to match the vases and the pictures below show the front and back of each bag. The butterflies are from the current Beauty Abounds Cling bundle.

Materials required for each bag

  • Whisper White yardstick- 2 pieces measuring 12 x 6 inches, score on long side at 1.5 inches; 2 pieces measuring 10.5 x 5 inches, score on short side at 0.5 and 4.5 inches; 1 piece measuring 7 x 5 inches, score at 0.5 inches on all sides
  • DSP – 2 pieces measuring 5.75 x 10.25 inches
  • Whisper White cardstock – measuring 1.75 x 4.5 inches; piece to die cut butterflies
  • Coloured cardstock – measuring 2 x 5 inches; piece to die cut butterflies
  • Rhinestone gems
  • Silver Embossing Powder
  • Ink pad to match coloured cardstock

To put the gift bag together

  • Burnish the score line on each piece of Whisper White
  • Adhere the DSP to each piece of 12 x 6 Whisper White card ensuring the bottom and sides are flush using liquid glue (to give you a bit of wriggle room to position the DSP) the score line is the top of the bag, DSP is not adhered to this section
  • Use tear and tape or liquid glue to adhere the top of the bag down; ensure that this is adhered to the outside (covering the DSP)
  • Make two holes on the front and back; easiest way is to evenly to one piece first and then line up the other piece mark with a pencil and then hole punch these holes; this will ensure that your holes match
  • Using tear and tape adhere the 10.5 x 6 Whisper White to the sides of the front and back pieces one at a time
  • Using tear and tape adhere the bottom of the bag lining up one score line at a time; once securely in place adhere each side lining up the relevant score line to the front/back of the bag
  • Make the handles using twine, ribbon as required
  • Die cut the butterflies in Whisper White and coloured cardstock, carefully separate (using scissors) the butterflies so that you have 5 separate ones;
  • Coloured die cuts coated in wink of stella
  • On the body of each butterfly adhere the coloured butterfly on top of the white shape using liquid glue; use rhinestones to decorate the body fo the butterflies
  • Place the butterflies onto the bag using dimensional and/or liquid glue
  • Make the label up as required, I used silver embossing powder on the coloured cardstock and also on the white cardstock; tie to the handles
  • Your bag is now complete and can be filled

Thank you for looking, hope you enjoy making your creation.
