Large Bag and Toy Elephant

This blog is a combination of my love of papercraft and knitting. Elephant was a present together with an elephant book for my grandson when his baby sister arrived.

The bag used retired DSP and Tranquil Tide cardstock.

Tranquil Tide – 2 pieces 12 x 6 inches, scored on short side at 0.5 and 5.5 inches, on the long side 2 inches (for side panels)
Tranquil Tide – 12 x 6 inches, scored on short side at 0.5 and 5.5 inches (for base)
Tranquil Tide – 2 pieces 12 x 1 inches (for handles)
DSP – 2 pieces 12 x 12 inches, scored on what will be the top at 2 inches

Putting the bag together

On the side panels the small rectangle (0.5 x 2 inches) remove on each side, and slightly mitre the bottom of the panel (2 x 5 inch section) and mitre the top of each 0.5 section
On the side panels, using tear and tape (or liquid glue if preferred) place on the bottom of the panel (2 x 5 inch section)
Using tear and tape (or liquid glue if preferred) place on the half inch scored sides of each of the 3 pieces
Using tear and tape (or liquid glue if preferred) place on the top edge of the 2 pieces of DSP
Remove the backing of the tear and tape, stick the base to the bottom of each piece of DSP
One at a time remove the backing of the tear and tape on the bottom of the side panel, lining up with the base; once in place remove the backing of the 0.5 inch and stick with the edge of the DSP
Remove the backing of the tear and tape (one at a time) of the top DSP and stick to the inside of the bag
The handles are stuck using tear and tape (or liquid glue if preferred) to the top of bag
The bag is now complete and this instance elephant and book at placed isnide
