Today I am taking part in a blog hop with the theme of ‘fancy fold’. For my submission I have created this Mothers Day trifold shutter card with a colour theme of Melon Mambo, using ‘A Mothers Flair’ stamp set and ‘Cake Soiree’ bundle, Whisper White cardstock. The images from A Mothers Flair are stamped in Melon Mambo and fussy cut. The flowers from the Cake Soiree set are heat embossed on coloured and white cardstock using the gold embossing powder and to break it up two of the flowers were stamped in powder pink. The sentiment was heat embossed using solver embossing powder and finished off with two hearts from the brights shapes.

Instructions for card base

Whisper White cardstock – 9.5 x 5.5 inches

• using a pencil and ruler mark on each short side at 1.5 and 4 inches, join these marks together
• using a pencil and ruler mark on each long side at 1.5 and 8 inches, join these marks together

Using score board

• on each long side score to the first pencil line at 1.5, 3, 6.5 and 8 inches
• then score the middle section at 3.25 and 6.25 inches

Using trimmer

• line up the opposite pencil lines on each short side and cut between the two pencil lines (this will enable the card to fold in different directions)

Using Bone Folder

• fold and burnish the two middle folds first in the direction as shown below (this makes it easier to make the other folds)
• fold and burnish the top and bottom sections in the direction as shown below (middle section first)

Instructions for coloured and white cardstock required

Melon Mambo cardstock – 4 pieces 1 3/8 x 1 3/8 inches; 2 pieces 1 3/8 x 3 3/8 inches; 1 piece 2 3/8 x 2 7/8 inches; 2 pieces  3 1/8 x 5 3/8 inches

Whisper White cardstock – 4 pieces 1.25 x 1.25 inches; 2 pieces 1.25 x 3.25 inches; 1 piece 2.25 x 2.75 inches; 2 pieces 3 x 5.25 inches

• With the 2 largest pieces mark at 1.25 inches top and bottom on the short side and join the marks drawing a line
• on the long side mark at 1.5 inches top and bottom from each end and join this mark to the line already drawn
• remove the two oblongs from the top and bottom to end up with two shapes as shown below

Putting the card together

• Complete the card base as instructed
• Ensure all other coloured and white cardstock pieces are cut to size as instructed
• Stamp and fuzzy cut the shapes required from ‘A Mothers Flair’
• Using the flower from ‘Cake Soiree’, stamp the shape four times onto coloured cardstock and two times onto white cardstock using versa mark and heat emboss in gold embossing powder; the stamp the flower shape using powder pink ink onto white cardstock twice; the die cut the each flower
• Die cut each flower
• Put the whisper white cardstock pieces into the striped embossing folder
• Using the 2.25 x 2.75 inches whisper white cardstock stamp the sentiment using versa mark and heat emboss with silver embossing powder
• Adhere the whisper white cardstock pieces to the coloured pieces using liquid glue
• Adhere the fuzzy cut shapes using dimensionals
• Adhere the flower shapes using glue dots
• Adhere the two melon Mambo heart shapes to the central panel
